Programmes and Services Diagnosis of breast cancer is a disturbing experience for anyone; no two individuals react in the same way. People describe feelings of shock, anger, fear and anxiety. ‘Up days’ and ‘down days’ are not unusual and such changes can go on for months. For some it can take up to a year to come to terms physically and emotionally with the situation. The effect of breast cancer, as with any serious illness, is not limited to the patient. Family, friends and colleagues too, feel the impact and are often just as anxious and distressed, and maybe feeling at a loss as to how or what they can do to help. Our aims are precisely to meet those needs, to provide a sanctuary and to help people cope with breast cancer and its treatment. We provide personal contact and support, information and self-help services which are complementary to medical and nursing care. |
OTHER TESTIMONIALS “When you came to see me nearly a year ago, I was very receptive to your offers of help. But I could have no idea how much Cancerkin would do for me over this difficult year.” Gillian |
