One generous supporter of a north London breast cancer charity has offered up a stay in her luxury holiday villa in Portugal to raise money for those affected by breast cancer. The villa will be auctioned off in an online eBay fundraising drive in aid of Cancerkin, based at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead. In its first and highly successfully foray into the world of eBay last year, the charity raised an impressive £2,000 in a similar auction and hopes to continue this success in 2011.
The eBay auction will be open for bids from Thursday 12th May 2011 at 8pm and will run for 10 days until Sunday 22nd May 2011 at 8pm. Located near Porto in the North of Portugal, the stunning villa in question sleeps up to 10 and has its own swimming pool, outdoor seating and dining area and lots of outdoor space.
As more and more charities turn to online tools such as eBay as a means of boosting their fundraising, Cancerkin is excited to once again hold the online auction. Cancerkin will conduct the auction using Mission Fish, which operates the eBay for charity programme. A registered charity itself (No. 1110538), the organisation helps other charities to use eBay successfully to raise their profile and funds.
Chief Executive Victoria Todd, said: “We hope that people will help us spread the word about this fantastic fundraising initiative. Not only is it a chance to secure a fabulous treat for your family or friends, it is a great opportunity to support Cancerkin. Sadly, more women are being diagnosed with breast cancer and we want to continue extending emotional and practical support to them.”
