Alison Jones has been Consultant Medical Oncologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London since 1993. She qualified from University of Bristol Medical School in 1980 and specialised in oncology, training at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She conducted her MD Thesis at the Institute of Cancer Research.
Alison specialises in breast cancer and publishes prolifically on the subject as part of an active programme of research into the disease. Her areas of interest include issues affecting young women with breast cancer, including fertility, and cardiac risk of treatment.
She is immediate past Chair of the UK Association of Cancer Physicians and is Vice Chair of Cancer Research UK’s Clinical Trials Awards and Advisory Committee. She is past Chair of the North London Cancer Network Breast Tumour Board, was Clinical Director of Cancer Services at University College Hospital for 5 years. She is a member of the London Cancer New Drugs Group and sits on the board of the Expert Advisory Group for the MHRA in relation to cancer.
