Brian Holloway has been Consultant Radiologist
and Honorary Senior in Radiology at the Royal Free
Hospital since 1998. He is the clinical director of the radiology and nuclear medicine departments. He qualified
in Dublin and underwent postgraduate training
in medicine and oncology at the Royal Free before
joining the specialist registrar training scheme in
radiology at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital,
London and obtainng further fellowship training in
New Orleans, USA. He is a member of the Royal College of Radiologists Breast group.
He is one of a team of radiologists providing ultrasound, mammography and an image guided biopsy service for patients attending the symptomatic breast clinic at the Royal Free. He is a core member of the multidisciplinary breast team (MDT) and has attended and presented at the weekly breast multidisciplinary meetings for over ten years. In that time there has been considerable expansion of the breast service with a doubling of numbers of new breast cancer patients treated. In addition breast cancer patients now benefit from advanced imaging techniques where appropriate such as MRI and sentinal node imaging.
