Tim Davidson has been Consultant Breast and General Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital since 1997. Following the retirement of Santi Parbhoo, be became the clinical lead for breast services at the Royal Free, and has been the chair of the General Surgery group at the Royal Free from 2004. Prior to his appointment at the Royal Free, he held the post of Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Surgeon, at UCL Medical School and UCL Hospitals from 1993 to 1997. Tim qualified in Cape Town and between 1980 and1993 underwent postgraduate training in general, oncological and plastic Surgery at Westminster, St George’s and Mount Vernon Hospitals. He was Senior Registrar and Lecturer in Surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital and undertook his research thesis (ChM) under the supervision of Prof Gerald Westbury at the Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research.
Tim is a member of the British Breast Group, the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, European Society of Mastology, and the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) at BASO, with research interests in breast imaging, risk-reducing treatments and spiritual/religious aspects of breast cancer, and chaired the medicolegal subcommittee of ABS at BASO from 1999 to 2007. He has been a Faculty Tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons (Advanced breast course) and MBBS Undergraduate Examiner at UCL Medical School. He is the author of peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on breast cancer including treatment, medico-legal aspects, breast reconstruction, risk-reducing surgery and breast imaging.
He is on the medical advisory panels of the charities Breast Cancer Care and Cancerkin and was invited to join Cancerkin as a Trustee in April 2009.
