Some patients find it useful to meet in a group setting and are welcome to take part in the monthly meetings of the Cancerkin Patient Support Group. Sometimes we have a guest speaker who will focus on a topic of interest; at other times, the group gets together to enjoy mutual support, information sharing and facilitated discussion.
For example, Dr Alison Jones MD FRCP and Mr Tim Davidson ChM MRCP FRCS from the Royal Free Hospital have given talks and have answered patients’ questions. Other guest speakers have covered breast cancer related topics including genetics, wigs and mastectomy bras. Talks by Mohammed Keshtgar MBBS, BSc, FRCSI, FRCS(Gen), PhD and Dr Anmol Malhotra MB BS BSc(Hons) MRCP FRCR are planned for this year.
We have also had Laurel Herman give a fantastic pampering day to Cancerkin patients, which included a free makeup session, therapies and an image consultation session.
Cancerkin’s complementary caring services are available to patients with breast cancer, free of charge for a series of sessions, regardless of where they have been treated.
